Annika Sorenstam introduces new Chardonnay and wine club at Wente Vineyards

(LIVERMORE, CA; July 25, 2010)—ANNIKA Vineyards celebrated the release of its newest wine, a 2008 Chardonnay, on Sunday July 25th at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, CA. Hall of Fame golfer Annika Sorenstam hosted the all-day affair at the winery for guests to be among the first to sample the wine, while experiencing the beauty of the Wente Vineyards property. This day also marked the debut of the Annika Vineyards Wine Club!

After breakfast, Annika lead a golf clinic and captivated guests with her precision shots. The day continued with a shotgun golf tournament where guests had the chance to be the first to taste her newest wine. As the afternoon ended, guests enjoyed a wine and appetizer reception and then a lavish wine country dinner by Wente Vineyards. Overlooking the golf course as the sun set, Annika graciously spoke of her passion for wine and meeting Carolyn Wente and her initial impressions of working with fifth generation winemaker Karl Wente on the blending process. Carolyn announced the inaugural Annika Vineyards Wine Club which is a must for fans of Annika as only 211 cases were produced of the Chardonnay.

The day ended with an invitation to become Annika ambassadors and share these wines with friends and family. The first wine in the ANNIKA Vineyards portfolio, a 2006 Syrah that was released last year, has aged beautifully in the bottle and is a great wine now as well as being able to cellar for years to come.
